Sternberger Elementary PTA

Who doesn't love a good pat on the back for a job well done? Our Awards Committee helps us show our appreciation by nominating our educators, administrators, students, and volunteers for various awards throughout the year.

PTA Awards are a celebration of the time, hard work and dedication that PTAs and our supporters volunteer for our school communities. The National PTA, NCPTA and many other organizations offer PTA recognition awards that allow our PTA to be eligible for certain grants and funding opportunities.

The Sternberger Elementary PTA was named a 2023-2025 National PTA School of Excellence! National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools that work to improve the educational experience and school environment for every child. As a National PTA School of Excellence, Stenberger Elementary School families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement. The School of Excellence program provided guidance to assist our school in engaging families in school decision-making, and help our school build inclusive policies related to education, health, safety or the arts.

Becoming a National PTA School of Excellence began with the joint commitment of PTA and our phenomenal administrative team to work together to welcome all families, communicate effectively, support student success, speak up for every child, share power and collaborate with the community. Our school has successfully mastered these commitments and we applaud everyone for doing so.

We join this year's list with seven other schools in North Carolina, and as the only school in Guilford County.

The path to excellence is a journey, not a destination. We encourage your continued participation toward our goals, to enroll and receive the 2025-2027 National PTA School of Excellence designation. We are extremely proud of the work that we have done to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.

Over 40 years of research shows increased family engagement is linked to school improvement and student achievement. The National PTA School of Excellence recognition program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-driven decisions that yield positive, long-term results. School of Excellence is committed to supporting and recognizing partnerships between local PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students.
