Don't Miss the Fun
Our Owls on the Run event is this Friday, October 25, 2024. All students and staff will receive their free t-shirt on Friday, October 25. Any additional shirts ordered will also be sent home with the student listed on your order on Friday, October 25, 2024.
Families are welcome to join us at school to watch their student(s) run! This celebratory event also includes a DJ, photographer, OWL mascot and snacks.
Here are several very important pieces of information about this event:
Visitor Parking - Please park only in the CUMC parking lot spaces across the street from the school highlighted in on the OOTR 2024 Event Map posted below. To prevent bus and other traffic issues, please do not park in front of the school, along Christ Church Rd, or along Wedgedale Ave.
Visitor and Volunteer Check-in - Please use the crosswalk to proceed from the parking lot across Christ Church Rd. to campus. Follow the dotted route to the Visitor and Volunteer Check-in area. For the convenience of our guests, visitor check-in for this event is at the tent instead of the Front Office.
Visitor Observation Area - After checking in, guests are invited to watch their owls run from the designated observation area. Please be mindful of the assigned run time(s) for your child(ren) and plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before their run time.
Starting Line - Our owls will begin their run at the starting line and students will have five minutes to run around the track during the time slot designated for their class. Most students pass the observation area several times during the run. Rest assured we will also have photos to share after the big day!
“Kiss and Go” Zone - Each class runs on the track for only five minutes. At the end of the five minutes, please say goodbye to your child at the designated “kiss and go” location to allow observers for the next class into the observation area. Thank you for staying in the designated visitor areas to support student safety and our students’ transition back into their school day routines!

Also, a reminder it’s not too late to donate, we will continue to have the store open for parent/caregiver donations until Friday 10/25/24 upon which time we will draw for our basket: Parent/Caregiver Donation
Each Family's Participation is the key to the Success of Owls on the Run!
Your child will be bringing home six sponsor letters in their Monday folder. Please choose six potential sponsors (family, friends, neighbors) and fill out one sponsor letter for each sponsor. Be sure to write complete addresses on the back of each form and PLEASE PUT A STAMP ON EACH LETTER.
Do not staple or tape your letters together. If your family has multiple Sternberger students, put ALL your students' names on each sponsor letter instead of sending multiple letters to the same person.
Return completed letters in the manila envelope that came in your child's Monday folder, to your child’s teacher by Thursday, October 21, 2024. Please put your child(ren)’s name on the front of the envelope. We will mail them for you.
Students who turn in their packets by October 21st will be entered into weekly prize drawings, so please get your packets back to school as soon as possible!

The Sternberger PTA will be providing all students and staff with a FREE t-shirt for our annual Owls on the Run event. Additional event t-shirts can be purchased through our store.
Orders for additional shirts for our 17th Annual Owls on the Run event must be placed by September 30, 2024.

Volunteer
We can't make this event happen without you. We also need volunteers to help our kids have the best experience possible, including monitoring the race course, setting up, distributing snacks, and cleaning up afterwards! Link for Sign-up Genius is below.
