BERTHA - Our Sternberger Spirit Rock

For those new to Sternberger, our 5th grade class of 2022 gifted the school a Spirit Rock and was named, BERTHA! If you have not already seen BERTHA, it is located right near the carpool line drop-off/pick-up. We rent out the rock so that our families can celebrate special occasions for their child and show our teachers some love throughout the year! This is also a great way to support our PTA.

How it works:

Pick your date!
Send $10 via Venmo to @SternbergerPTA (preferred method), please comment "Spirit Rock Rental with date of rental." Cash/check is also accepted, please put in a labeled envelope and drop off in the Treasurer's mailbox in the front office at school. Checks can be made out to Sternberger Elementary PTA.
On your date, AFTER 5pm, you paint the rock! You will get your spot for 2-3 days (or until the next person signs up).

Rules:

Please paint ONLY the rock
Clean up ALL supplies and tools
No Profanity or obscene photos
Design must be family friendly
NO last names

Please remember, this is a first come first serve type of thing. We cannot guarantee you will get a specific date. There are a few dates that the PTA have blocked out (example: to promote Owls on the Run, to celebrate our 5th Grade graduates, etc.).

What supplies do I need?

Please use water-based paint. We recommend using spray paint for the overall background color (plan for drying time). BERTHA is a big rock and takes two regular sized cans of spray paint. Extra paint may be needed for more elaborate designs. For letters and decorations, craft-type acrylic paint and plastic bristle brushes or foam brushes and stencils work best.

Don't forget to clean up when you're done and take all paint, tools and other supplies with you.

What if the rock is already reserved on the date I want?

Reservations are available on a first come, first served basis so be sure to book your spot ASAP! If the day you want is already taken, try selecting either the next available date either before or after.
