Each January, Guilford County elementary schools gets ready to welcome all students who will be transitioning to kindergarten in the fall and their families. We understand that sending your little one off to school for the first time is a big step, but we are here to help!
Sternberger Elementary and Guildford County Schools host a number of events and offer various resources to help you and your student sail smoothly into kindergarten. Find out more below!
We can't wait to welcome you to Sternberger Elementary School! Our school hosts a number of events to give you and your transitioning kindergartner lots of opportunities to see why we have the best kindergarten in Guilford County.
Registration for these events is not required but helps us plan. Your contact information is requested so we can send Kindergarten Signing Day invitations and follow up information to help you plan for the start of kindergarten. It also gives us the ability to send notifications of any possible changes due to inclement weather.
kinder tours
Our Kinder Tours are a great way to introduce your transitioning kindergartner to Sternberger. You can expect tours to last approximately 45 minutes. Our tour guides will give you an insider's glimpse into what it means to be a new family at Sternberger. You’ll get to tour the school and ask questions of parents who have been where you are now.

signing day
Signing Day (AKA Kindergarten Kickoff and previously known as Kinder Camp) is an annual event held each spring. It is coordinated by the Sternberger Administration and Kindergarten Team. This is a great opportunity to meet out kindergarten teachers, learn more about what to expect, and get details about kindergarten transitioning events over the next few months.
The Sternberger PTA provides volunteers and refreshments to help welcome perspective students who will be starting kindergarten in the fall and their grownups.

Our Kinder Readiness Workshop is designed to help parents of rising kindergartners feel confident and prepared for their child's transition to school. Families will receive important information on the registration process and discuss available resources.
